Trae Vaughn – Administration Captain

Trae has worked for the Martin Police Department since December 2012. He was promoted to Captain in July of 2024. Prior to being a Captain, he held the positions of patrol lieutenant, patrol sergeant, and patrol officer. Trae has received the following training while at the Martin Police Department: Basic Police Academy, Standardized Field Sobriety Testing, Advanced Roadside Impaired Driving Enforcement, Basic Police Cyclist School, Law Enforcement Instructor Development, Basic SWAT, Field Training Officer, Basic/At Scene Crash Investigation, Advanced Crash Investigation, Crash Reconstruction, Crash Reconstruction Involving Pedestrians, First Line Leadership and Supervision, Mid-Level Management School, Crisis Intervention Team Training, and Tennessee Law Enforcement Executive Development Seminar (TLEEDS). Trae has been an instructor in the following areas: Taser, RADAR/LIDAR, Firearms, and Police Cyclist. He is also the General Departmental Instructor. Trae is from Gleason, TN. He graduated from Bethel University in 2012 with a B.A. in Human Services with an Emphasis in Criminal Justice.

Kelly Hendon – Investigation Captain

Kelly has worked for the Martin Police Department since August 2018. He has received training from the Tennessee Law Enforcement Training Academy. Kelly is from Union City and is a graduate from the University of Tennessee at Martin where he studied Criminal Justice and minored in Political Science. While attending the University of Tennessee at Martin he attended the 6th session National Forensic Academy Collegiate Program. Kelly has received training in several specialized areas since then including Instructor Development, Basic SWAT School, Advanced Roadside Impairment Driving Enforcement (ARIDE), OC Aerosol Instructor Course (Pepper Spray), Field Training Officer Course, and Firstline Supervision Course.

Eric Reed – Patrol Captain

Captain Reed has worked for the Police Department since August 1998. He was promoted to Captain in July of
2017, he previously held the positions of patrol lieutenant, patrol officer, and was the SRO at Westview from August 1999 until October 2004. He previously worked for Greenfield Police Department. Eric has received training in several areas including: The Law Enforcement Training Academy, Officer Survival, QUAD, Interview & Interrogation, and Tennessee Law Enforcement Executive Development Seminar. He is currently one of the Crisis Negotiators at Martin P.D. as well as a Domestic Violence and Emergency Vehicle Operations Instructor. He is a graduate of the Southeastern Leadership Academy (SELA) held in Chattanooga.
