On 11/05/2017 at approx. 1:25 am, Martin Police Department and Martin Fire Department responded to the storage building complex located at 108 Strand St. after patrol officers noticed smoke rising from the area. Martin Fire Department extinguished the fire that had already damaged several units within the facility. Martin Fire Department and Martin Police Department investigators began an investigation to determine the origin of the fire after the scene was made safe. It was discovered that the fire started inside one of the storage units. The fire is being investigated as a possible arson. The State of TN Fire Marshall Fire Investigative Section was notified and investigators from that agency have since responded and joined the investigation. This investigation continues.
